A strong influencer marketing strategy is important for brands looking to amplify their messages, expand their audiences, and build brand awareness. It has become an integral and essential part of standing out both online and offline — after all, what people are talking about on the internet also makes its way into real-life conversations.
Today, even amid uncertainty and shifts in brand communication strategies, we see companies continuing to value and invest in influencer marketing. In 2025, 61% of companies intend to increase their investment in influencer marketing, according to the “ROI & Influence 2024” study, conducted by YOUPIX in partnership with Nielsen.
As investments grow, brands are also becoming more strategic in their selection of influencers. Today, choosing an influencer lineup for campaigns is guided by creators’ reputations and professionalism, with an even greater focus on measurable and genuinely tangible results.
With this in mind, I took a deep dive into YOUPIX’s 2025 report to put together a thoughtful overview of this year’s trends and how we can prepare to achieve extraordinary results.

Reputation Under Scrutiny When Choosing Influencers
We’ve never seen so many content creators and influencers in the news, but that visibility isn’t always for positive reasons. In an industry that is still moving toward greater professionalization, reputation is facing a crisis. And influencers who protect their image are pulling ahead!
At a time of platform regulation and AI-driven misinformation, attention is turning to ethics and responsibility, and creators, just like traditional media outlets, are under public scrutiny.
Integrity, ethical commitment, and responsibility will be valuable assets that brands look for when selecting influencers for their campaigns. A few questions can help guide this decision:
- How do I want to be recognized? And how do I not want to be recognized?
- What values are non-negotiable for my brand?
- What boundaries do we not want to cross?
Throughout this journey, having a strategic partner with deep market knowledge and proven expertise in influencer selection, campaign development, monitoring, and results analysis makes all the difference — and this is something we know very well!
Building Community and Belonging: Relationships Are Strategic
When planning campaigns and selecting influencers, relationships are an X factor that drives results, taking shape in two increasingly important ways:
- Always-on influencer campaigns are gaining more and more momentum, demonstrating that ongoing content resonates with audiences and strengthens the relationship between audiences, brands, and messages.
- Specialist influencers will become increasingly sought after for partnerships, while generalists will lose ground. This shift reflects a growing focus on established communities where the key word is belonging.
Superficial metrics are giving way to deeper connections!
Because building relationships also happens through the details — and more adaptable brands will become increasingly common — businesses are dedicating more time to community management and creating touchpoints with their audiences through strategic, authentic, and meaningful comments.
Timing is essential, as is effective social listening to understand conversations in the digital space. Brands that pay attention to these factors can identify powerful opportunities for connection and gain a competitive edge with their audiences!
It’s Time for Maturity!
Organic, people-centered content remains highly relevant, but maturity in the quality of content production (and in the processes behind the scenes) is becoming a major consideration for brands when hiring influencers for campaigns! If effectiveness guided 2024, maturity will build on that foundation and help direct resources in 2025.
This also applies to the entire journey leading up to the final deliverable: the brand-creator relationship is becoming increasingly mature and transparent, from briefing to script development, highlighting how a positive and seamless partnership is also a highly valuable asset for businesses.
Maturity also means measurement and technical expertise to execute influencer campaigns with greater data accuracy and impact. Increasingly, well-prepared teams with strong technical knowledge will make the difference.
Creators Are Becoming More Professional and Building New Businesses
With growing demand for influencer professionalization, established creators have identified a valuable business opportunity and are taking on new roles in the evolving creator economy. Beyond producing content, they are becoming mentors to other influencers pursuing careers in the industry and fully fledged entrepreneurs.
Startups offering solutions to support content creators throughout their professional journeys are already a reality, as are influencers who have developed businesses within their own brand ecosystems. A strong example is Lela Brandão: she is a content creator, podcaster, and owner of a clothing brand that is hugely popular among Millennials and Gen Z — and every detail of her different ventures is fully aligned with her values and those of her audience.
The diversification of business opportunities beyond traditional advertising will accelerate in 2025, taking on an even more prominent role among content creators!
As we navigate a period marked by a growing desire for connection and belonging, we have a year of great opportunities ahead to co-create memorable campaigns and generate even more value for brands aligned with society and the future. And when it comes to putting reputation at the center of the conversation, we have the knowledge and expertise to contribute!
