How often do we ignore our intuition — or hold back from doing something genuine and aligned with our truest selves — simply because we are afraid of getting it wrong or being misunderstood?
When in doubt, we tend to play it safe.
This photograph bears the unmistakable signature of legendary photojournalist Evandro Teixeira. Regarded as a genius for his distinctive body of work, he built an extraordinary collection of unique angles and moments, captured while covering major events in Brazil and around the world.
Evandro’s brilliance came precisely from having the courage to trust his intuition when it mattered most. Perhaps one day he decided to take a chance and position himself where no one else was. The risk of missing the shot was enormous — but it worked. And maybe, after that experience, he decided that this was how he would always work.
Come to think of it, I never asked him about that.
My father.
But working this way was entirely consistent with his personality and his convictions. Could it have gone wrong? Absolutely. But for him, it was aligned with his purpose: always trying to do his very best.
Brilliant people seem to have that in common, don’t they? They dare naturally. They take risks and try new things even when it means exposing themselves to judgment. And, in the end, they somehow turn luck into a faithful companion.
At Textual, boldness is part of our DNA. We work together to build knowledge and give our team the confidence they need, while encouraging autonomy and a consultative mindset. Here, we celebrate what works and turn mistakes into opportunities to learn.
We know this transformation is not simple. Turning innovation into reality requires investment, clear processes, and commitment from everyone.
But if you are not willing to take a risk in the first place, the needle will never move.
